Furniture polish on a limestone hearth

Q. How do get the stain from furniture polish to come up? We used Scott’s liquid gold and accidentally ended up with a ring on the limestone hearth.

A. These type of stains can be difficult to remove. You will need to use a poultice with a strong solvent such as methylene chloride which you can purchase at your local hardware or home improvement store. It is sold as varnish stripper. Use our Interactive Stain Guide for how to create a poultice. Be sure to follow all safety cautions with this chemical.
