A major design element to this home in the Village of Los Ranchos outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the sandstone wall that runs through the house. The reading room with its walnut floors is one of the coziest, most intimate places in the house to relax, read a book and sit by the fire. The sandstone, quarried outside of Cortez, Colorado is incorporated into this home to anchor the project to the landscape. The subtle earth tones of the stone are offset by the rich colors of the Tiger wood deck and walnut floors. Crisp steel details are used in concert with the soft textured surfaces of the Cortez stone. Courtesy: Patrick Coulie Photography.
