Spa Tile Restoration

Q: I had my ceramic tiles acid washed with a mix of 2 parts muriatic acid and 2 parts water. It cleaned up heavy clacification but tiles remain
smokey and cloudy. Do I have options to improve the finish other than polishing? Would a baking soda and white vinegar formed into a paste be helpful?

A: In the past, I have dealt with problems such as this one at Stone Forensics. It is possible to bring back the original look. You can try using a tile polish yourself to see if you can remove the film. A quality tile polish can be found at stonecarecentral.com. Many times it is just a light film left behind from the acid. You may need to rent a floor machine to properly apply the tile polish. If this doesn't work, or if you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself than I would suggest you call in a pro. A qualified contractor can be found at stoneandtilepros.com
