Q. I am trying to learn more about Rainbow sandstone for a bathroom floor. We can get some tile that is 1" thick but I wonder if thinner sandstone is available, and is thinner okay to use? I only can find suppliers from India; very little on the internet in the US. How do I go about getting a small amount?
A. Your best bet would be to visit some stone suppliers and check with them. You can also search the directory at www.marble-institute.com. The thickness will vary depending on the type of sandstone. Some sandstone cannot be cut too thin since it can fall apart, but there are several types available.
