Q. I accidentially left a bottle of vinegar/water on my polished marble vanity and it caused some etching. Can I fix this?
A. Essentially an etch is damage to the stone. If it isn't too severe -- it's not so rough you can feel it with your fingertips -- you should be able to fix it easily yourself using a Marble Polishing Compound or powder. If it is very severe, you may have to call in a professional.
I would recommend that you first try the Marble Polishing Powder or Compound, since it isn't very expensive and it does work very well.
One of our sponsors, Stonecare Central has an excellent quality Marble Polishing Compound in the Stonecare PRO Signature Marble line.
If you do need to hire a professional, visit the Find a PRO section to locate a qualified stone restoration contractor in your area.ETCHING Occurs when stone is eaten (or neutralized) by an acid.
